I scared daddy last night...
Don't worry - nothing bad at all! For months now, mom and dad have been telling me when I wake up in the middle of the night that I can go potty all by myself and go back to bed. But for some reason if I wake up, I stay in bed and call for mom. I ask her to come meet me in the bathroom, I go potty, then climb right back in bed and go back to sleep. Sometimes she talks to me over the monitor and convinces me to go by myself. Last night I decided that I *didn't* need help and got up all by myself! Mom didn't hear me over the monitor at all (she was asleep) and daddy was sitting in his office in the room across the hall from mine. I opened my door, walked out, closed the door again (presumably so kitty didn't get in my room while I was gone), looked at daddy and said "Hi! I'm going potty!" Daddy was a little surprised to hear my door open! I then proceeded to go about my business and go back to my room. I stopped at my door, said "Good night, I love you, mwah!" And that was the last daddy heard from me. He thought mom had talked to me over the monitor and told me to go by myself. Mom woke up when daddy went to bed, so he asked her if she had talked to me. She said no and that she didn't even hear me! Kind of surprising since she's such a light sleeper, but definitely a step in the right direction! Needless to say, mom and dad are SUPER proud of me!

It's almost February...and that means DISNEY!
I can't believe that we're leaving for Disney in a little over 3 weeks! We've been talking about it for so long and I know that we're going in February, but I really don't have any concept of how long a week or a month is, so it's been hard to tell how long we still have. Almost every morning, I wake up and ask mommy if we're going to Disney today :) All of the logistics are set - plane, house, tickets, meal reservations, car, so I think we're good to go - just need to pack in a few weeks.
I had a really fun week! The weather warmed up a bit, though it was rainy for part of the week. Mom had several meetings this week as well, so I had a few mornings where I didn't have to get up *quite* so early. I've been going to bed really well lately - it's all about the routine. Bath or shower, 2 books, 2 songs from mom, 2 songs from dad, tuck in, say good night, turn my music on, turn the light off and say good night. 9 nights out of 10, I have to get up to go potty before I go to sleep, but that's ok. I haven't had an accident overnight in probably 6 months and don't even wear my cloth trainers anymore. Probably 7 nights out of 10 I wake up crying at some point, usually an hour or two after I actually fall asleep - I usually can't articulate what I need, but taking me to the potty tends to stop the crying and then I go back to sleep. Other nights I still have night terrors and nothing can calm me down until mom or dad wake me up. Mom still wakes me between 5:45 and 6 during the week and on the weekends I sleep till 7ish - sometimes earlier, sometimes later. I love my new clock that mom and dad got me for Christmas - if I push the button on the right, it tells me what time it is! And it has an analog (and digital) face, so I can start to learn to tell time. The yellow nightlight on the clock comes on when it's time to go to bed and it stays yellow until it's ok for me to get up and then it turns green! So if I wake up and my clock is still yellow, I know it's not time to get up yet. But when it turns green, I literally yell "MOM COME GET ME! MY CLOCK IS GREEN!" Only problem is that she has to set the clock for 5:45 during the week, so she HAS to remember to re-set the clock to 7am on the weekend! She forgot yesterday and I was up at 6 and told her to come get me. I guess I got her...she couldn't argue with me!
It was a really fun week at school. Tuesday we had Spanish class (though I really get lots of Spanish lessons daily from my teachers, Ms. Martha and Ms. Carmen). In fact, mom said that she really needs to take a Spanish class because I know so much now that she doesn't always understand what I'm saying. I always tell her, of course, but I'm learning so much so quickly! My friend at school, Sam, and his mom apparently take a Spanish class together, so mom said she'd try to find out the details of that to see if we could join them. How fun would that be??? I know my numbers to 10, the alphabet, most animals, body parts, words like fast, slow, hot, cold, milk, water, and a bunch of other foods.
Wednesday was Show and Share - the letter of the week was I. I chose my pretend Ice Cream and Ice Cream Cone to take to share with my friends. That was a tough letter to find something to take. This coming week the letter is L and the theme is ocean animals, so that should be a little easier to find something.
Thursday I had my Power Tots class and it was my winter social in the afternoon! Mom got stuck at work and couldn't get there on time (boo), but when she got there we got to do some special activities together and I even got to eat a "Winter Blizzard" smoothie! Needless to say, I didn't want to eat dinner after that. But Alanna and I got to have fun and run around the lobby and draw pictures together while our mommies got to talk to each other. Mom and Alanna's mom got to talk to Ms. Pam for a while (the director at my school) and she told our mom's that we learned how to do cartwheels in Power Tots - how fun!
Friday was just a normal day at school - I did lots of playing, reading, learning. I had my swim class on Saturday - mom took me and I had a ton of fun. Casey is in my class and we are like two peas in a pod. We both did such a great job. My favorite part was jumping from the rocks into mom - I must have jumped in 20 times. Now mom and dad say they need to reinforce the "fear factor" around the water so I don't just go jump in when they're not around! At least I'm a lot more comfortable in the water now.
Daddy went for his long run while we were at swim class. He found a new awesome trail that's not far from my old school. He said it was great and ended up doing a little more than 11 miles :) When we got home from swim class, mom put a movie on for me (the first Curious George movie) so she could run on the treadmill. She can see me (and the movie) from the treadmill and I knew if I needed anything to go talk to mommy. I did a GREAT job and watched the movie and came and told mommy when I had to go potty. She told me I could go by myself, so I did, and then came back and sat in daddy's chair to finish the movie. I waved at mom to let her know I was back (don't worry - she could hear me the whole time). She was able to finish her run (4 miles plus warm up / cool down) before the movie was over, so she sat with me and we cuddled while the movie finished. Daddy came home as it was ending and said he was going to take a shower (he was sweaty - yuck!)
After the movie, mom and I took a shower and got ready for dinner - we met Joe and Ruthie for dinner - my favorite - SUSHI! We even went to my favorite place that has the kid friendly chopsticks and sweet potato rolls! Dad was STARVING since he hadn't eaten after his run, so he and mom ordered a few yummy rolls. Joe and Ruthie knew this place well and ordered some special rolls and shared them with mom and dad - one was a special dragon roll and when it came out, it looked like a dragon breathing fire (yes, there was a flame on the plate!) Mom and dad said it was delicious, but I didn't have any (I still don't eat sushi with fish - I just eat the veggie stuff). Then they had something called fatty salmon, which was quite possibly the best sushi that they had ever had. So good (so they said). At the end, the waitress brought something called a Cucumber Salad Roll which was an amazing roll made with the skin of the cucumber as the wrapper. Quite impressive and very good. I got ice cream as a dessert and then some cookies and a lollipop (can you say sugar overload???) I was VERY good during dinner, so mom and dad let me have all of the treats. Mom and I had packed an activity bag for me which came in quite handy: coloring book, crayons, stickers, tangoes, magnadoodle, a letter pad, a stuffed animal, and some other stuff. Kept me busy and well behaved the entire time.
Today was a day with daddy! We let mommy sleep in (which she was very grateful for!) and even made breakfast for her (and for us too). Daddy made a frittata that was quite delicious. I ate that and had my milk in my Snoopy mug from my Great Grandma. Doesn't get much better than that. Mom had another cup of coffee and got dressed to go for her long run, so I got to stay with daddy while she ran. We had a great day together and read books, played with play doh and even got to watch a movie! Mom took me grocery shopping when she got home (well, to one of the grocery stores), then I stayed home with dad and had dinner while she went to the other store. It was just about bath time when mom got back, so she gave me a bath and I washed my own hair and even put the conditioner in all by myself! I picked out my Snow White nightgown to wear to bed and we followed our bedtime routine. I'm sound asleep now, but we'll see if I wake up at all!
Hope everyone is doing well. Pictures soon - I promise. They're still on the camera...editing / uploading takes a lot of time!

Exciting Weekend - Glad it's Over!
Daddy had to take a trip to Germany last week for work. He had to leave on Saturday night and didn't get back until Friday afternoon. Mom and I were looking forward to some mommy-daughter time during the week, but we had a little excitement on Sunday night that kind of changed our plans for the rest of the week! Mom and I were reading books in my room on Sunday night (last week) and we heard a loud noise. I asked mom what the noise was and she said she didn't know. I told her it sounded like a garbage truck or a recycling truck and she agreed. It was strange for almost 8pm on a Sunday, but neither of us thought much of it. We finished reading, mom tucked me in and said good night. She went downstairs and flipped the fireplace on (yay for a gas fireplace) and sat down to watch some TV. I was already asleep by the time she sat down (or at least I was quiet already). Then she heard another BANG and the glass break sensor for the living room sounded. Mom's heart was pounding and she grabbed her phone, turned the alarm on and ran upstairs. A few seconds later, she heard another BANG and the alarm went off. She called 911 and ran into my room (I was crying because the alarm scared me). At first, she thought that someone was just throwing rocks at the house or something, but when the alarm went off, she thought someone was trying to break in, so that's what she told the 911 operator. The 911 operator was fabulous and calmed us both down and the police came to check things out. They even sent a car that had dogs to sniff around. Thankfully they didn't find anything - they think it must have been a bunch of kids vandalizing and throwing things at houses. There's a tiny hole in the siding next to our front door, but that's about it.
Needless to say, mom was pretty scared and I was tired and shaken up (mom had to take me downstairs with her to talk to the police and it was far past my bedtime at that point). Mom called Ken and Marie to see if we could hang out there for the night and thankfully they had room for us. We owe them BIG TIME!!! I was thrilled to have a sleepover with Arabelle (even though she was already in bed by the time we got there). Belle was so nice and left some of her "buddies" (what I call my stuffed animals) in the guest bed for me to sleep with. I played for a little when we got there, had a cup of water, then told mom I wanted to go to bed. I fell right asleep, Marie gave mommy a glass of wine (thank you Marie!) and then mommy came to bed with me a while later. We both slept really, really well and got up and played with Belle and Cole for a little while on Monday before we came home. Mom looked around when we got home and everything was fine. She worked for a while and I played (my school was closed because it was MLK Day).
We met Ruthie for lunch on Monday - I was a little crabby at lunch, but I think it was just because my schedule was a little "off." We went back home and mom finished working. We had an early night (as we did the rest of the week) and we hung out in mom's room and watched movies - I think mom let me watch more movies last week than I have ever watched! We watched Curious George 2 and Tangled (thank you Netflix streaming) and even a few episodes of Dora. Mom even let me sleep in her bed - she said I could keep daddy's spot warm for him, so I grabbed my pillow and at least a dozen of my buddies and made myself at home. I slept well and mom got to sleep pretty early every night. Needless to say, mom was pretty glad to get back to work on Tuesday. She even got to go to the gym at lunchtime and really enjoyed her run!
Daddy got back on Friday - no problems with flights and we were SO glad to see him. He brought me the coolest puzzles from Germany - two wooden puzzles that can also stand up on display - a horse and an elephant. They're kind of hard for me to put together, but if mom and dad talk me through it, I can do it. We're going to put them up in my room :) He brought mom back some gummy bears (she swears that German gummy bears are MUCH better than what you can buy here, so he always brings her back some). I've been asking her ALL week if I could have some (she finally shared some with me tonight). Needless to say, mom didn't get as much done last week as she had hoped. But such is life.
Daddy took me to swim class on Saturday so mommy could get her "long run" in. It was pretty icy, so mom opted for the treadmill rather than the slippery sidewalks and cold wind. 9 miles on the treadmill is TOUGH, but she did it and felt pretty good. She was *almost* done by the time we got back from class. Daddy said I did a great job in class again and swam by myself with the floating barbell and even swam under the waterfall (which I had been afraid of before). I jumped in to daddy and chased after my fish (an orange swim ring). I'm definitely less timid in the water than I used to be!
Daddy went for his long run on Sunday and mom and I went to the grocery store. I love Whole Foods and mom and I had salads from there for dinner :) We also went shopping for new decorations for my bedroom - mom and I got new curtains last week, so we got a new quilt (flowers and butterflies!), sheets, and a lamp. No more plain white "big girl" room :) We're also going to hang the quilt that my great grandma made for me - I think I showed a picture of it, but it matches my new bedding quite well.
We had a good Monday and Tuesday this week as well. The federal government (and therefore my school and mommy's office) didn't open until 11 on Monday because of the ice, so we got to sleep in a little and I got to play at home for a while before we went to school yesterday. Today, mom had a meeting, so I also got to go to school a little later than normal. My schedule will be all thrown off tomorrow when we actually have to get up on time! But tomorrow is my music class, so if mom reminds me of that in the morning, I'll probably get up pretty easily.
Mom does have some more pictures to show, but hasn't taken them off the camera yet. Soon - I promise!
Hope everyone is well!

Happy New Year! (two weeks late...)
Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful finish to 2011 and a very happy start to 2012!
Cool fact for today: I am 3 years, 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days old. Pretty crazy, huh?
We all had a fun time between Christmas and New Years. The day after Christmas, we all got up and had breakfast, then headed out around lunchtime to take Grammy and Grampy to meet Aunt Laurie, Uncle Dan, my cousins Courtney and Kaylee, and Aunt Terry! We met in Delaware - Terry flew in to Philly, so Laurie picked her up and we all met at a restaurant and celebrated our Christmas together. It was a short visit with everyone, but we had a lot of fun. I immediately attached myself to Courtney and Kaylee and sat at their end of the table the entire dinner! They read my new books to me and played with me the whole time. Mom cut up my food and let me eat dinner with them too.
Mom had to work part of the day on Tuesday, so I went to school for part of the day. At least we both got to "sleep in" (yes, mom calls 7 sleeping in, ha ha) and get ready leisurely rather than our normal hustle of a morning routine. Tuesday and Wednesday I also told mom I wanted to go to school for a little bit, so she took me for a few hours so I could play with my friends and she could get some runs / errands in. I was going a little stir crazy sitting at home over the holidays anyway (even with all of my new toys), so it was nice to see my teachers and friends, run around out on the playground and have a little break in the day. Friday I told mom I wanted to stay home, so I did.
Saturday was New Years Eve and mom and dad went to dinner with friends. I had a babysitter for dinner - we had pizza and got to do lots of fun crafts!!! We made a few ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree and mom and dad were so happy to see them when they got home. I was awake (again) when they got home, so mom took me back up to bed and cuddled with me until I fell asleep. When I woke up the next day, it was 2012! Mom and dad didn't have to work that Monday either, so we had another fun day at home together :)
Mom decided to do a photography project in 2011 and did a 365 project of photos of me!!! She took a picture (or many) of me every single day and didn't miss a day at all :) There was one day that she didn't see me because she had to travel for work, but daddy filled in on that day. It was a ton of work and she's still not done editing and uploading all of the December photos - it gets a little tedious after a while to edit and touch up the many pictures. But she'll get it done and will get the books for the grandparents and great-grandparents ordered. It's so fun to look at how I've changed over the course of a year. And it brings back so many fun memories!
It's been a fun few weeks back at school and I continue to learn a lot of new things. We've been dancing a lot lately and I'm learning a ton of new Spanish words - I now know my numbers from 1-10, most animals, most body parts and the colors. Mom signed me up for music again (she forgot in December and I reminded her every week that I wanted to go back...). She ended up not signing me up for part of December because of the holidays. But now that it's January, I'm doing that again. I'm also doing Power Tots at school - they bring in gymnastics mats and equipment and I get to tumble and get a lot of energy out. Most of my friends in my class also do these classes, so it's a really fun time.
I also started back at swimming last week. I did SO well last week and even better today!!! I've always been a little more timid in the water with mom than I have been with dad, so mom's been taking me to class. The class is in the "leisure" pool at the indoor pool where we go (we got a family membership so daddy can train for the triathlon and mom and I can go splash around). When it's just a recreational swim, they have fountains and slides and it gets pretty crowded. But for my class, the fountains are all turned off - it's about 6 kids and a parent with each kid. The water is anywhere from a few inches deep to probably 4 feet, so I feel pretty comfortable there. During our lessons, they have barbells that float and I put my armpits on the bar part and can kick around and scoop the water without mom's help! Mom got me a new pair of goggles (that fit better than my old ones) and I think those really helped today. Even without mom holding me, I "swam" with my face in the water and blew bubbles, scooped water and kicked my feet. I even got up enough courage to jump from the side in to mom! It was SO much fun! Mom says she's glad we have swim classes before Disney next month since the house has a pool.
Speaking of which, I can not WAIT for our Disney trip! We finally got our flights booked, dinner reservations made and park passes purchased, so all we need to do is get the rental car. We're having lunch in the castle with the princesses, so I've been absolutely obsessed with them lately. Mom and dad generally aren't huge fans of "character" stuff, but since we'll be there and it's such a wonderful place for kids, they're indulging my princess obsession. 7 more weeks to go! Mom's a little nervous about the race, but is determined to plow through the rest of the training.
Daddy had to leave today for Germany, so it's just mom and I for a few days. I waved to daddy's car as he left and looked at mom and said "It's just you and me, mommy." Broke mommy's heart, but we're going to make the best of our time together! Daddy even left some videos for me to watch, so when I miss him, I can just watch the videos :) The time difference makes it difficult to talk to each other when he's there, but videos are a great way for us to stay in touch. Mommy can take videos of me and send them to daddy too. I have a ton of fun with that. Mom and I read a few long books tonight and sang FOUR songs instead of our usual two at bedtime. Fingers crossed I sleep in a bit tomorrow. I slept until almost 8 this morning and mom said she felt like a million bucks sleeping that late!
Here are some pictures from January so far.
I set up my chair at my train table and grabbed my laptop so I could work. Must be something really important - look how serious I am!
Mom shared her chocolate covered raisins with me. They are mom's favorites and her Grandma and Grandpa (my Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa) get her a box every year for Christmas (THANK YOU!!!)
Grandma and Grandpa gave me a princess castle for Christmas. Mom and dad put it in my room since my Dora tent is in the family room and my big cardboard house is now in the basement. I was having fun wearing my Snow White nightgown playing in my castle. Mom also likes to braid my hair after my bath so it doesn't get tangled in the morning. My hair is getting LONG!
These are mom's favorite PJ's of mine. And I showed her how big I was by buttoning them ALL BY MYSELF! See how proud I am of myself??? Mom was too :)
I really loved the Rose Parade this year - particularly the marching bands! This was me pretending to be in a marching band.
Grammy and Grampy got me a subscription to High Five magazine. My first magazine came the other day and I made daddy read it to me cover to cover. There are a few "projects" in the back that mom and I are going to do this week while daddy is in Germany.
Hope everyone is enjoying 2012 so far!
