Just a Quick Update...

To let you know that dad finished the race with flying colors :) He's already planning for the next and mom may have caught the bug as well - we shall see. Will try to post pictures tomorrow.

We also had a pretty good laugh at dinner time tonight...Raz figured out how to get up on the back of the couch, which happens to be at about face level with my high chair. Well, I'm not the neatest eater yet, and Raz must have smelled the food, because she stood on the back of my highchair and tried to lick my face! I didn't finish dinner because I was too distracted trying to turn around and look at her. Silly cat!

We have a tooth!

My first tooth has finally surfaced! I won't really let anyone look at it, so you'll have to wait for pictures, but it's definitely there.

I had a great weekend last weekend and the weather was finally really nice! Grammy and Grampy Clements came to visit me and so did Aunt Laurie, Uncle Dan, and cousins Courtney and Kaylee! Since the weather was so nice, we were able to spend a lot of time outside. We walked around the neighborhood and around the lake where mom and dad used to live. Saturday night, we went to see the Washington Freedom game and this time it was thankfully a little warmer than last week. I think they all had a nice time - I know I did!

It's been a pretty crazy week! I've woken up before 4 am every morning so far and have been WIDE awake and ready to go, but mom hasn't been quite so ready... I also haven't taken more than two 15 minute naps a day in over a week and I haven't been eating or nursing like I should be. It's just not like me. Finally, on Wednesday, I fell asleep on the way home from daycare and mom had to wake me up at bedtime to feed me and put my jammies on - I was only up long enough to eat and then went back to sleep for the night, but alas was up again at 4. I had been doing SO well sleeping - hopefully I'll get back to "normal" soon!

Mom tells me that I'm starting at a new school on Monday. We had to take everything home from my old school yesterday. But my favorite teachers all agreed to babysit me sometime, so I'm glad we'll be able to stay in touch with them. I will definitely miss them!

Tomorrow, dad is running the GW Parkway Classic 5K - wish him luck! Mom made me a shirt to wear to cheer him on - stay tuned for photos :)

Here are some photos from last weekend. I'm getting so big!!!

Happy Friday!

I'm still obsessed with sticking my tongue out as you can see! Don't I look determined??? I'm having a lot of fun with my toys now and am able to control them a little better. Mom and dad got me a Sesame Street remote control so I stop trying to play with the real ones! I think mine is more fun anyway :) Elmo talks to me when I push the buttons (much to dad's chagrin - he has pretty much banned anything Elmo in the house, but mom snuck this one in).

It's been an injury prone few weeks in this house (but not for me, thankfully). Dad tripped down the stairs last week and hurt his ankle, so he may not be running in the Parkway race in two weeks. He says it's feeling better, but it's definitely not back to normal yet. It could have been so much worse - I'm glad he's ok!!! And mom has tendonitis in her wrist and has to wear a splint which makes it hard to pick me up. This too shall pass...

I've been VERY vocal lately. My doctor told mom at my 6 month appointment that I should start saying consonant sounds at about 8 months. The very next day, I started to say "ba ba." So now I say lots of things, including ooo ah, ba, da, ma, ga and the latest, ta. I'll be speaking in full sentences before you know it...just kidding, of course :)

DC United!

Mom and Dad took me to my first DC United game last Saturday! The weather was rainy off and on all day, but it wasn't too bad. We have a canopy for the tailgates, so I got to stay dry and hang out in my stroller and get passed around to all of mom and dad's friends. At game time, mom put me in the carrier and we walked in. We made a brief stop at the team store on the way to our seats and were lucky enough to find a jersey and warm up suit that will probably fit me sometime during the season :) Mom also got me a crazy monkey - it's not a true rally monkey because it doesn't cry, but I have a feeling dad will fix that for me! Already at the young age of 6 months, I can tell it's nice to be an engineer's daughter :)

I fell asleep on the walk from the store to our seats and slept through the entire first half. The carrier has a "hood" on it, so I didn't even get wet from the rain. I woke up at half time and enjoyed just looking around for the rest of the game. I was apparently the life of the party because the people who sit behind us were funny and made faces at me and thought I was cute.

Uncle Jay was kind enough to send us these photos. Mom has a few more from the tailgate, but doesn't have the camera with her...

Last Sunday was a bit nicer and we got to go for a long walk around the neighborhood. But mom discovered that the hill that looks less steep than our street is in fact about 4 times longer than our street and therefore much more painful to walk up, especially with the stroller ;)

It's been a pretty good week as well. I've now been sleeping in my crib since Sunday night. I have to admit it's still a huge challenge to fall asleep, but once I do fall asleep, I've been sleeping pretty well, sometimes waking up once or twice. I'm definitely falling into more of a set schedule.

Mom and Molly took me to another DC United game last night (Dad stayed home and hung out with his friends at our house). I got to wear the sweat suit that mom got me at the last game. How cute am I? Thank you Wanda for sending us pictures - hope you don't mind that we put them up here! I got to see my friend Gabriel again - he was such a cutie and was very good for the game, but got tired half way through the second half. Not bad for his first MLS experience!!! I was pretty good for the game too and stayed awake the entire time this time. Talon came around our section and I got my picture taken with him. I finally fell asleep when we were pulling in the driveway, just in time to get changed into my jammies and go to bed.

I also got to meet the Easter Bunny yesterday! Mom said that she was surprised there were no other kids in line, so we got to sit there for a while waiting for me to smile. I decided I was in a serious mood, so we sat there for 10 minutes and some guy kept shaking a toy at me trying to get me to look and smile. I thought he was pretty goofy actually and never did crack a smile. The photos really aren't great, but I guess this is one of those necessary childhood events.

We also discovered last night that regardless of the outcome of the final basketball game, the picks that dad made in mom's work pool will come in second place! Not too shabby :)

After all the fun and excitement of the weekend, I guess it's time to wind down and get ready for another week of school and work! Talk to everyone soon!

Hips are PERFECT!!!

Mom was right - the x-ray really wasn't too bad once we got to the right office that is... This appointment was in a different office than we usually go to and mom went in the wrong place first. Oops! I was very good and sat still long enough for them to take the pictures. Mom had to hold my shoulders and knees so I sat still, but I really didn't even try to squirm. The doctor came in a few minutes later and told us that not only do my hips look good, but they look PERFECT!!! The balls of the hip joint are perfectly formed in the sockets and a normal hip angle is anything under 25 degrees. Mine are both much less than that, so no need for further treatment at this point. My torticolis still seems ok - my face is slightly asymmetrical, but should continue to even out as I get older. I don't have to go back to the orthopedist until I'm a year old and if everything still looks good then, that should be our last visit!

My Easter basket came in the mail today too :) Mom says that the Easter Bunny is going to come visit soon and that I have to put on a silly dress and have my picture taken with the Easter Bunny in the mall...stay tuned for that one...

I'm Six Months Old!

Hard to believe that it's been 6 months (and 2 days) since my birthday! I've grown so much in that time. I was born at 6 lbs 7 oz and 19.25 inches am now 14 lbs 15 oz and 25.5 inches. My head measurement is a little smaller than expected, so we'll keep an eye on that, but since I'm on track developmentally with most things, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm sitting up by myself now and get so excited that I end up toppling over. I play a fun game with mom and dad and sit on their bed and bang my hands on the comforter, then laugh hysterically when they do the same. Maybe they'll get me a drum set one day :)

I'm doing well with most of my foods, but carrots and sweet potatoes don't really agree with me. I had bananas today and LOVED them. Mom tells me that I have to get an x-ray of my hips tomorrow - she assures me it won't hurt and will be quicker than the ultrasounds were. I got my shots today and didn't even cry for the first one - I was too distracted by trying to chew on mom's thumb. But then they gave me the second one and I screamed VERY loudly. I don't have to go back until I'm 9 months old and I don't get any shots then - just a few finger pricks to test for lead and iron levels. Mom had to switch my vitamins today too because now that I'm 6 months old, I don't get as much iron as I need from breastmilk, so I have to take an iron fortified vitamin. Most kids have a hard time with the vitamins, but I gobble them right up.

Good night everyone - it's past my bed time!

Dad Kinda Weekend

Hey y'all! Been a while since Dad helped me post an entry, so we thought he should catch up. It was definitely a Dad kinda weekend...

He picked me up from school on Friday since Mom was out of town. We hung out for a while, and when Mom got home I showed them both what I think of their sweet potatoes:

If you listen closely, you can hear them laughing... they thought it was so cute at the time! (little did they know that they were going to need a raincoat to feed me from that point forward...)

Mom already told you about the soccer game on Saturday... I think it's cool that DC has a professional women's team. I was a bit cranky by the second half due to the cold & rain, but I think we'll have a lot of fun at their games... it's neat getting to see & meet the players from the World Cup and the Olympics! Don't be surprised if I get my picture with some of them before the season's over!

Sunday was pretty quiet... Mom and Dad did some work around the house, and then we hung out downstairs and watched some TV. I'm just about big enough to sit up in the theater chairs...

I dig hanging out and watching rugby in the DadCave!!!
