DC United!

Mom and Dad took me to my first DC United game last Saturday! The weather was rainy off and on all day, but it wasn't too bad. We have a canopy for the tailgates, so I got to stay dry and hang out in my stroller and get passed around to all of mom and dad's friends. At game time, mom put me in the carrier and we walked in. We made a brief stop at the team store on the way to our seats and were lucky enough to find a jersey and warm up suit that will probably fit me sometime during the season :) Mom also got me a crazy monkey - it's not a true rally monkey because it doesn't cry, but I have a feeling dad will fix that for me! Already at the young age of 6 months, I can tell it's nice to be an engineer's daughter :)

I fell asleep on the walk from the store to our seats and slept through the entire first half. The carrier has a "hood" on it, so I didn't even get wet from the rain. I woke up at half time and enjoyed just looking around for the rest of the game. I was apparently the life of the party because the people who sit behind us were funny and made faces at me and thought I was cute.

Uncle Jay was kind enough to send us these photos. Mom has a few more from the tailgate, but doesn't have the camera with her...

Last Sunday was a bit nicer and we got to go for a long walk around the neighborhood. But mom discovered that the hill that looks less steep than our street is in fact about 4 times longer than our street and therefore much more painful to walk up, especially with the stroller ;)

It's been a pretty good week as well. I've now been sleeping in my crib since Sunday night. I have to admit it's still a huge challenge to fall asleep, but once I do fall asleep, I've been sleeping pretty well, sometimes waking up once or twice. I'm definitely falling into more of a set schedule.

Mom and Molly took me to another DC United game last night (Dad stayed home and hung out with his friends at our house). I got to wear the sweat suit that mom got me at the last game. How cute am I? Thank you Wanda for sending us pictures - hope you don't mind that we put them up here! I got to see my friend Gabriel again - he was such a cutie and was very good for the game, but got tired half way through the second half. Not bad for his first MLS experience!!! I was pretty good for the game too and stayed awake the entire time this time. Talon came around our section and I got my picture taken with him. I finally fell asleep when we were pulling in the driveway, just in time to get changed into my jammies and go to bed.

I also got to meet the Easter Bunny yesterday! Mom said that she was surprised there were no other kids in line, so we got to sit there for a while waiting for me to smile. I decided I was in a serious mood, so we sat there for 10 minutes and some guy kept shaking a toy at me trying to get me to look and smile. I thought he was pretty goofy actually and never did crack a smile. The photos really aren't great, but I guess this is one of those necessary childhood events.

We also discovered last night that regardless of the outcome of the final basketball game, the picks that dad made in mom's work pool will come in second place! Not too shabby :)

After all the fun and excitement of the weekend, I guess it's time to wind down and get ready for another week of school and work! Talk to everyone soon!

Hips are PERFECT!!!

Mom was right - the x-ray really wasn't too bad once we got to the right office that is... This appointment was in a different office than we usually go to and mom went in the wrong place first. Oops! I was very good and sat still long enough for them to take the pictures. Mom had to hold my shoulders and knees so I sat still, but I really didn't even try to squirm. The doctor came in a few minutes later and told us that not only do my hips look good, but they look PERFECT!!! The balls of the hip joint are perfectly formed in the sockets and a normal hip angle is anything under 25 degrees. Mine are both much less than that, so no need for further treatment at this point. My torticolis still seems ok - my face is slightly asymmetrical, but should continue to even out as I get older. I don't have to go back to the orthopedist until I'm a year old and if everything still looks good then, that should be our last visit!

My Easter basket came in the mail today too :) Mom says that the Easter Bunny is going to come visit soon and that I have to put on a silly dress and have my picture taken with the Easter Bunny in the mall...stay tuned for that one...

I'm Six Months Old!

Hard to believe that it's been 6 months (and 2 days) since my birthday! I've grown so much in that time. I was born at 6 lbs 7 oz and 19.25 inches am now 14 lbs 15 oz and 25.5 inches. My head measurement is a little smaller than expected, so we'll keep an eye on that, but since I'm on track developmentally with most things, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm sitting up by myself now and get so excited that I end up toppling over. I play a fun game with mom and dad and sit on their bed and bang my hands on the comforter, then laugh hysterically when they do the same. Maybe they'll get me a drum set one day :)

I'm doing well with most of my foods, but carrots and sweet potatoes don't really agree with me. I had bananas today and LOVED them. Mom tells me that I have to get an x-ray of my hips tomorrow - she assures me it won't hurt and will be quicker than the ultrasounds were. I got my shots today and didn't even cry for the first one - I was too distracted by trying to chew on mom's thumb. But then they gave me the second one and I screamed VERY loudly. I don't have to go back until I'm 9 months old and I don't get any shots then - just a few finger pricks to test for lead and iron levels. Mom had to switch my vitamins today too because now that I'm 6 months old, I don't get as much iron as I need from breastmilk, so I have to take an iron fortified vitamin. Most kids have a hard time with the vitamins, but I gobble them right up.

Good night everyone - it's past my bed time!

Dad Kinda Weekend

Hey y'all! Been a while since Dad helped me post an entry, so we thought he should catch up. It was definitely a Dad kinda weekend...

He picked me up from school on Friday since Mom was out of town. We hung out for a while, and when Mom got home I showed them both what I think of their sweet potatoes:

If you listen closely, you can hear them laughing... they thought it was so cute at the time! (little did they know that they were going to need a raincoat to feed me from that point forward...)

Mom already told you about the soccer game on Saturday... I think it's cool that DC has a professional women's team. I was a bit cranky by the second half due to the cold & rain, but I think we'll have a lot of fun at their games... it's neat getting to see & meet the players from the World Cup and the Olympics! Don't be surprised if I get my picture with some of them before the season's over!

Sunday was pretty quiet... Mom and Dad did some work around the house, and then we hung out downstairs and watched some TV. I'm just about big enough to sit up in the theater chairs...

I dig hanging out and watching rugby in the DadCave!!!

My first soccer game

Mom and dad took me to my first soccer game yesterday! We saw the Washington Freedom play Sky Blue. It was a bit cold and the rain started to pick up, so mom and I went back to the car a little after half time, but it was fun and I was very good the whole time. I was all bundled up, but my nose still got a little rosy. After the game, dad got to meet a bunch of the players and even got Abby Wambach to sign mom's US Wambach jersey! That was fun and has gotten us all in the mood for the DC United home opener in a few weeks. Hopefully the crowd noise at RFK won't spook me too much - mom thinks I'll probably sleep in the carrier the majority of the time, but we'll see. I'll have lots of company this year with Arabelle and Gabriel - just wait till we're all fully mobile - that'll be fun!

Jump Around!!!

It's been a while since the last update! It's been pretty busy around here and mom and dad haven't had time to write a new entry. I had a bit of a stomach bug last week and that was NO fun. Apparently it is going around in the toddler room in school and one of my teachers had it too :( Mom had to keep me home from school since I'm supposed to be "healthy" for at least 24 hours before going. I was fine the next day, but mom was worried I was dehydrated and didn't want to take a chance. The joys of daycare. This week it is just me and a few other non-mobile infants, so we have the run of the place and can "play" more freely without the older babies bothering us. I'm back to my non-sleeping tendencies and have been taking one or two 20 minute naps at daycare and maybe an hour nap after I get home. I think I get overtired and then have trouble going to bed and don't sleep well. It's a vicious cycle - one that mom, dad, and my teachers hope I grow out of soon!

I'm enjoying a few more foods now - I've had rice cereal, oatmeal, barley cereal, sweet potatoes, applesauce (necessitated by the stomach bug) and squash. I made the bitter face for the apples the first time, but after that I just gobbled them up. I still only get food once a day, but I may get a second meal soon. The food isn't needed for nutrition until I'm a lot older, so it's all just for practice now and to watch out for any allergies. Dad also taught me how to bang my spoon on my highchair to demand food. It's cute for now :)

It's starting to become apparent that I'm intentionally playing with my toys now. There's a LOUD toy on my exersaucer that I love to spin. I also just got a GREAT new toy - a jumperoo! I'm a little short for it still, but I figured out how to use it pretty quickly. Here's a quick video - I didn't talk much, but you can see how much fun it is. Mom's hoping that I will jump myself to sleep :)

We'll put more pictures up once we find the adapter for the camera... Hope everyone is well!
